Who We Are — Equilibrium North West CIC
Equilibrium North West CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to reducing inequalities in health and wellbeing. We research the needs of our local communities and design innovative, practical solutions in response. We start by asking: What challenges are people facing? And more importantly: What could actually help?
Our mission is to support people in improving their wellbeing and increasing community participation through inclusive projects, social groups, and informal learning opportunities. We believe wellbeing looks different for everyone—our experiences, challenges, and needs are all unique.
We run a vibrant Family Hub and Community Centre in Birkenhead, offering a full timetable of activities for all ages, stages, and abilities. It’s a welcoming space where we can explore what health and wellbeing means to each of us, share our experiences, and discover what works.
Why Equilibrium
Equilibrium means a state of balance between opposing forces.
Life is a journey—beautiful and messy, vibrant and difficult, full of ups and downs. Things can change in an instant, for better or worse. At different times, we all need varying levels of support, advice, and connection.
Wellbeing isn’t just the absence of illness—it includes emotional, social, mental, financial, and physical health. It’s also about how safe, accepted, and connected we feel. At any given moment, we may need help with one or several of these areas—and that’s okay. That’s life.
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to wellbeing. What works for one person might not work for another. Our experiences, beliefs, and expectations shape how we see the world and what we need to feel well.
Sometimes, unseen forces can hold us back—lack of money, knowledge, support, or time. Or perhaps it’s something we do have, like a health condition or someone depending on us for care. Everyone’s journey is unique.
